Dilated surface veins are successfully removed during surgery or by sclerotherapy, however, the dilated capillary network e.g. on thighs, is difficult, and most often – impossible, to remove effectively. Vein surgery leaves the females unsatisfied with the remaining cosmetic defect – the dilated capillary networks on the skin.
During treatment of dilated blood vessels by means of elōs technology, their lumen overgrows due to the effect of high temperature, without damage to surrounding tissues. Haemoglobin in the blood absorbs laser light, which turns into thermal energy, and there is an increase in local temperature on the inner wall of the blood vessel. This reduces the resistance of pre-heated tissues and they get briefly conductive to the energy of the radio frequency. While flowing from one electrode to another, RF energy turns also into the thermal energy, which destroys the structures, which have absorbed the laser light. Here, thermolysis causes the desirable result – the blood vessel collapses, its lumen overgrows, later it outgrows in connective tissue, thus suspending blood flow. Without blood circulation in the dilated blood vessel, it gradually pales and disappears.
The treatment result shall be most often obtained following 4 – 8 weeks after treatment. Normally, there is a requirement for three treatments each 6th – 8th week, however, treatment result and number of treatments depend on the course of patient‘s illness, age, existing changes in skin, genetic and environmental factors, observation of expert‘s recommendations, as well as on individual organism response to the treatment. In the presence of a certain individual genetic, hormone state of the organism, it can be impossible to obtain the desirable result.
elōs technology is ideal for treatment of the following:
- surface pedal veins dilated up to 1 – 4 mm and capillary networks;
- surface telangiectasias on legs, face or any other area of the body;
- angiomas;
- whisk-type network of surface veins.
Treatment contraindications:
1. Pregnancy;
2. Oncological (cancerous) cases during treatment;
3. Serious, non-compensated illnesses of inner organs, uncontrolled diabetes;
4. Illnesses, the progress of which may be influenced by intensive light (laser) wave effect: systemic lupus erythematosus, porphyria, epilepsy;
5. Atrophy of the immune system due to AIDS, HIV or taking immunosuppressants;
6. Blood clotting disorders (increased bleeding risk due to coagulopathies), taking anticoagulants;
7. Light and/or sun allergy;
8. Infection caused by herpes virus or that of other origin, as well as damage to skin integrity (eczema, psoriasis, etc.) on areas of treatment;
9. Taking retinoids (synthetic vitamin A preparation) during last 6 months; for the latter month, taking antibiotics of tetracycline group or other pharmaceuticals that increase the skin sensitivity to light, or which, while taking them, may not include photo therapy;
10. Keloidic (hypertrophic) scars, pigment derivatives of skin in a precancerous state or of unclear origin on areas of treatment;
11. In case of the treatment of the facial area – a chemical or mechanical skin peel performed in the course of two weeks;
12. Current pacemaker or defibrillator.
Side effects:
1. Post-therapy darkening of blood vessel derivatives or vein;
2. Skin reddening and intumescence during treatment;
3. Rarely – blisters, wounds, crusts or scars, changes in skin colour.
Preparation for treatment:
Before treatment, it is required to carefully rub the skin of the area to be treated, shave the hairs.
Recommendations after treatment:
- It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight for 2-3 weeks. If it is impossible – during the aforementioned period, it is necessary to apply the high factor sun cream.
- Take 72 hours for not using a tanning bed, infrared light and other saunas, and hot bath or bathhouse – avoid heat;
- You may not go in for active sports for three days,
- If you need repetitive treatments, it is necessary to repeat them in time intervals as indicated by the doctor.
